Ooops The Door Handing is Wrong !

In the era of DIY projects there is one mistake that is being repeated over and over again when installing door hardware, and it goes something like this:

So you said to yourself “Ok, alright, I am going to install this Lever myself and save some money” then you went online and bought it, but when you got to the awaited moment of installation you realize that the handing of the door is not correct.

First things first, DOOR HANDING refers to the hand (actual human hand) with which the door will be opened. The persons left hand, or the person right hand. The following information will help you avoid a door handing mistake when installing a new door:

1)    Door Hinge: the door hinge can be to the right or left of the door frame
2)    Door Swing Direction: It can be to the inside or outside.

So these are all the possibilities you might stumble upon:

Left Hinge / In-Swing Door:  Left Door Handing
Right Hinge / In-Swing Door:  Right Door Handing
Left Hinge / Out-Swing Door: Left Door Handing
Right Hinge / Out-Swing Door:  Right Door Handing

Right Handing , Left Handing

Dummys Safes, good idea or not?

A somewhat frequent question we get from visitors to our showrooms goes along this lines: "The dangerous thing about a safe is that you are already telling the burglar where your valuables are, they are inside that safe, so the safe might be achieving the contrary of the intended effect". The answer to this is YES and NO. In security everything is relative.

For once, it depends on the construction rating of the safe. A high security safe, with lets say,  a  fire rating of more than 2 hours, UL rated for burglary,  weighing more than 500 Lbs, and bolted down to the floor would be extremely difficult to open or retrieve from the property. To achieve the feat a burglar would have to know what they are doing in advance, meaning they would need to have safe-cracking knowledge,  come with the right tools, a team of helpers, and still would need a considerable amount of time to break into the safe, while very probably having the pressure of a burglar alarm going off on them.

Regardless, one thing some people do, and this is very frequent in Latin America,  is to have what we call a dummy safe to please the burglar's thirst in which you would place some cash. This is sort of an extreme scenario but when establishing home safety procedures it is not a bad idea at all. There are other solutions for concealing guns, cash, and jewelry. A floor safe is the choice for many because of its great hiding properties although it has the downside of not being quickly accessible.

To make things crispy clear, when we are asked this question, our first answer for customers is to choose a high quality safe that would provide real protection to their valuables in the first place. We can certainly help you at any of our showrooms in Hallandale and Dania, if you are looking for Safes In Miami, ASAP Safes can help you.

What To Look For When Purchasing Gun Safes

There is a lot of information out there regarding gun safes and what kind of features are the most useful and effective. It can be challenging to go through and know what is the right information, and what is trying to persuade you. Buying the right gun safe is like buying the right gun, and you want the investment to be in the right place, but how do you know which one is the best choice? The important thing, regardless of where you buy your gun racks from, is that you understand a few basics before putting down any kind of real money on anything. These are some simple foundational tips that will help you see the important things to look for, as well as the basics of gun safes in general. To begin with, knowledge is key in any purchasing experience. It doesn’t matter if you are buying a brand new house or car, or something as important as a gun safe for your home, knowing as much about what you are looking at will make a world of difference in your ability to make a good decision. Ask the dealer or manufacturer questions about the product, and if they can’t answer them then there is a problem. If you can’t get the answers you want or you’re not satisfied with the ones you get, then try using internet user reviews or forums. Most likely someone before you has already made the purchase and may have written about it. This is a great way to get experience with a product with out having to make the initial investment.

Secondly and most importantly, understand that gun safes are not actually made to keep intruders from getting to your belongings, at least not directly. This may sound a little counter intuitive, but realize that a thief is interested only in getting what they can and then getting out. If they have to take extra time breaking into a safe they will either likely move on without touching it, or they will have to risk getting caught. No safe has been built that someone can’t get into if they just have enough time. Ultimately the goal is to have gun safes that are able to keep an intruder from breaking in for as long as possible. This will act as a way to either keep them busy enough that they give up and run away, or eventually get caught. Having gun safes that can do this is one of the basic ideas, and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has become the leading industry standard for rating these products. Most standard gun safes on the market will have a UL rating, with either a basic 5 minute standard or the more extensive 15 to 30 minute certifications. These will typically mean that a professional safe cracker was held off from gaining access to the safe, using basic home style tools, for what ever specified time. In the end the main thing to look for is these important ratings. These are the real indicators as to the successfulness of gun safes. Although other options are sometimes effective as well, don’t spend a lot of money on something that will be just as effective as a safe that costs much less. Get the information you can to make the best informed decision possible.

Local Locksmith In The Digital Age.

The widely reported Locksmith Scam started to occur before the internet explosion when regulators lifted the responsibility of Yellow Pages on enforcing the true local nature of the advertisers before approving an add for publication. When that happened many individuals with certain Locksmith Burbank Skills started to advertise with false addresses and names, many times stealing the name of a renowned local locksmith. With the genesis of the Internet the problem was aggravated, and it has today the magnitude of a national epidemic.

Think about it. Any person with minimal skills can open a web site displaying a false address and a cell phone, some pictures, and they are up and running. Common Sense will tell you that if it's so cheap for them to be in business that their rates would be lower, but for the most part their prices are higher than anybody else because they strife on customers with a lockout emergency willing to pay high rates, or like in the case of many victims, too afraid to dispute the charges.

Usually these so called locksmiths work as  a part of larger organizations who establish out-of-state calling centers which replicate websites in every major city and then "hire" independent contractors who are asigned the leads received from the internet. The problem here is that there is no real relationship between the organization and the supposed locksmith, apart from a long distance paycheck, and this type of arrangements work well for many industries, but not the security industry.

In security you are dealing with people's safety, even their life is at stake, and when it's about the important task of installing a lock to protect a house, a business, or a car, there has to be some kind accountability that is non-existent with those organizations.

We have been repeating this for years, and will continue to do so for as long as we need to. Save the phone number of a local locksmith before you need it. Make sure you are hiring a true local locksmith, with a brick and mortar store, licensed and insured, with identifiable service vehicles, uniform technicians, that answers the phone with the name of the company, and capable of providing you with an accurate estimate by phone which will then be honored during the service call.

One of the most respected sources to find a local locksmith is the Associated Locksmith's of America  (ALOA) directory: Find a Locksmith.

We are ASAP Locksmith & Safes. Our advice for you is to act now and save our Aventura Locksmith phone number now: 954-457-2727. For 24 hour Locksmith Hollywood FL assistance call ASAP Locksmith.

Aventura Locksmith

Nowadays when people are looking for a service provider like a Locksmith, they often type in  Google the word of the service they need along with the city they are located at.

Like Aventura Locksmith for example.

Once you type in the keywords in your search engine of choice you will get a set of results. In the top header and the right columns you see all the paid adverts, and in the body of the page you see the organic results.

When you search for a Locksmith at any given time, in any given city, the amount of options you have to choose from is overwhelming, so for lack of patience the majority ends up calling the first one they see.

In the digital age, when it’s so easy to pretend you are something you are not, anybody can build a decent looking website and call themselves a Locksmith, a  towing company, a driving school, or an acupuncturist, when in reality many of them don’t have the necessary experience or credentials to practice what they preach.
